Help!! This doesn't make any sense to me. Can anyone help me solve for the value of x?

Exterior angle of the triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite angles.

9x = 5x + 9 + x

Combine like terms:
9x = 6x + 9

Take away 6x from both sides:
3x = 9

Divide by 3 on both sides:
x = 3

Answer: x = 3
