Scipio Africanus

The term "Punic" in "Punic Wars" comes from the Latin name that the Romans called Carthage.  The three Punic Wars, between Carthage and Rome, occurred between 264 and 146 BC.  In the Second Punic War, the famous Carthaginian general Hannibal invaded Italy, but ultimately was defeated by the Romans under the leadership of Scipio Africanus, in 202 BC.
