The Dust Bowl was caused by poor agricultural practices where in the post World War I recession, the farmers were led to try new farming techniques to increase profits. But plow-based farming in the region raised unexpected return which is the loss of fertile topsoil that leaves the land susceptible to drought and hostile for growing crops.
