The Red Scare was a time period in which American citizens were worried about communist influences in the US government and society in general. In order to rid the country of this fear, drastic measures were taking by citizens of the US.

The Ku Klux Klan was one group in American society who capitalized on this fear of communism. This group constantly used violence against anyone who had different political or religious views. Along with this, they discriminated based on race and ethnicity as well. This made immigrants easy targets for the KKK, as they saw them as a threat to their value system.

Anti-immigrant movements also picked up speed. This fear of immigrants being spies or individuals who were trying to make America a communist nation resulted in nativist groups increasing in popularity.
