Answer: Cuts are soft tissue injury, meaning an injury to the skin and the soft tissue underneath it.
A soft tissue injury can damage muscles, tendons and ligaments. The soft tissue consists of the skin, muscle and fat under it. The common soft tissue injuries are bruises, scrapes, cuts, burns etc.
Cuts are also soft tissue injury where damage is caused by something sharp like knife causes an open wound to the skin and may start bleeding. This is due to the breaking or tearing of the blood vessels under the skin surface. If the cuts are not deep then by body’s defense mechanism the bleeding stops by forming a blood clot. If the cuts are deep bleeding must be stopped at priority to prevent infection using bandages and medications
