Holding your breathe will cause your blood CO2 (carbon dioxide) to rise and you will begin breathing again.
When you hold your breath you don’t let any oxygen in and carbon dioxide out when your lungs stop producing carbon dioxide and stop in taking oxygen no oxygen will get to your brain, this is the point where you pass out. After you pass out depending on your lung health you will either start breathing again and be fine or completely stop breathing and at that point it is very dangerous.
