Which of the following examples illustrates an energy transfer between the atmosphere and hydrosphere? A. plant roots absorbing water from the soil B. loss of heat from a geothermal vent to the surrounding cooler water C. polar ice reflecting the Sun's light back toward space D. convection currents in the ocean mixing warmer and cooler water together

Respuesta :

The answer is D. One of the main drivers of ocean currents is winds and earth rotation. The energy of the winds (atmosphere) use drag to drive currents in the same direction they blow. This cause these warm and cold currents to meet at particular points such as the equator and  cause them to mix

Actually, the correct answer is C. polar ice reflecting the Sun's light back toward space because simply put, the atmosphere contains all the planet's air, and the hydrosphere contains all the planet's water. Polar ice is a part of the hydrosphere. When sunlight (heat) is bounced off the reflective surface of the ice, heat is sent away from the hydrosphere and into the atmosphere.
