Augustine of Hippo was one of the first theologians and a philosopher. He had many thoughts on varied subjects such as the creation of earth, Jesus being born, and the harmony between human body and soul. He was one of the first to propose the idea that the Bible did not mean a lot of things in a literal sense, but instead metaphorical.
