In which of piaget's stages does the child become capable of abstract reasoning?

According to Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development, abstract thought and hypothetical reasoning emerges in the fourth stage or the formal operational stage. At this stage, the child would be around the age of 12. This stage is characterized by more sophisticated and advanced thinking.
