Because of his views, Martin Luther King, Jr. was treated different ways by different people. Some treated him as a hero of the Civil Rights movement, for being brave and vocal about wanting equality. Others treated him incredibly poorly for his beliefs, so much so that he was jailed, and eventually killed for having such views.
