Hedda essentially just ignores Tesman the entire time that he explains the importance of these slippers to her, and continues going about her business. When she finally does respond to him, she directly tells him that she does not care about them, or about what he has to say about them.

This reveals Hedda's rude, selfish nature, and Tesman's desperate desire for Hedda's approval and appreciation.
