Basically
John loves his mother and Lenina was the perfect love object for him becuase
Lenina is so like his mother. However Lenina and John cannot simply understand each
other and they were incapable of meeting John’s emotional needs. At one point
John confessed his love for Lenina because he was infatuated with her and
Lenina felth the same way also to John. But, unfortunately they were unable to
proceed with their feelings because of their different backgrounds and John
wanted marriage as this is how he had been conditioneed. This reason made them
difficult to establish a relationshing and Lenina ended up rejecting John’s
marriage proposal.
