Which of these statements are characteristic of matter in gaseous state?

A. Gases fill their containers completely.
B. Gases exert pressure.
C. Gases have mass.
D. The pressure of a gas is independent of the temperature.
E. Gases are compressible

Hello!

The statements that are characteristics of matter in the gaseous state  are A, B, C, and E

All these statements describe gases. Statement D is the only one that doesn't describe a gas. The pressure of a gas depends on the temperature. This is described in the Ideal Gas Law ([tex]P*V=n*R*T[/tex]), and also in the Gay-Lussac's Law ([tex] \frac{P1}{T1} = \frac{P2}{T2} = \frac{Pn}{Tn} [/tex]). These Laws describes how the pressure of a gas changes with temperature.

Have a nice day!
