Which is an action/reaction force pair? Check all that apply.

Earth pulls on a book, and the book pushes against a shelf.
A hockey stick hits a puck, and the puck pushes against the stick.
A pencil pushes against a piece of paper, and the paper pushes against the desk. A finger pulls on a rubber band, and the rubber band pushes against the finger.

The hockey stick story and the rubber band story describe action/reaction force pairs.

Answer:

A hockey stick hits a puck, and the puck pushes against the stick.

A finger pulls on a rubber band, and the rubber band pushes against the finger.

Explanation:

As per Newton's III law every action has equal and opposite reaction.

This shows that action force on a system will give a reaction force on the other system which apply the action force on it.

So here we can say if hockey stick hits the puck then this is action force then the reaction force must be on hockey stick by the puck.

Similarly in other example if a finger pull on rubber band then this shows action force then rubber band will push the finger with same force so this is reaction force on finger.
