Germans had been operating unde totalitarianism/dictatorship government. there was no previous experience with Democratic government and Hitler had eliminated all leaders who opposed his ideas
I honestly don't really know too much about germany but I would probably guess that after the war it was difficult to trust leaders in post Nazi Germany. I hope this helps
