Romeo: His first motivation was to forget about Rosalinda, his first former lover. However, throughout the book, he ends up falling in love with Juliet. His motivation is changed by his desire to be with Juliet and love her for all eternity. At the end of the book, he chooses to die with Juliet (even though she wasn't dead) because he'd rather be dead with her than alive and alone with the living. Psychologically, you could argue that Romeo's subconscious motivation was to be able to love and be loved.
