The Scientific Revolution is a concept used to explain the emergence of science during the early modern age, associated mainly with the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, in which new ideas and knowledge in physics, astronomy, biology (including human anatomy) and chemistry transformed the ancient and medieval visions on nature and laid the foundations of classical science. According to most versions, the scientific revolution began in Europe towards the end of the Renaissance period and continued through the eighteenth century, influencing the intellectual social movement known as the Enlightenment .
