Cells divide because to reproduce, grow, and to repair tissues.

Hey there! 

Cells divide because they are usually limited in size. Since the inside part of a cell grows faster than the outside, they must divide to keep up. Another reason why cells divide is to reproduce and to repair themselves of any damage.
