The Ottoman Empire was the largest and most influential Muslim Empire until World War I and their disastrous alignment with the Central Powers. While it is true that the Ottoman Empire was in decline even before World War I, it was in that war that the Empire lost most of its territories and collapsed briefly after the event of the war.
