Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, a protozoan parasite. Signs and symptoms of having this disease are as follows:
- itching, burning, redness or soreness of the genitals
- painful urination
- pain during intercourse
-discharge from the penis (for men); change in the vaginal discharge (for women)
The problem with Trichomoniasis is that once a person has been infected, the symptoms may appear within five to 28 days after contact. Others do not develop symptoms until much later. Without proper treatment, the infection can last for months or even years.
