Treaty of Fort Laramie, 1868
Also known as the Sioux Treaty of 1868. Agreement between the United States and Sioux people. This treaty guaranteed the Lakota peoples ownership of the Black Hills and further land and hunting rights in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. The treaty ended Red Cloud's War and established the Great Sioux Reservation.

Answer:

The Treaty of Fort Laramie was an agreement between the United States and the Lakota, Dakota and Arapaho Indians signed on April 29, 1868 in Fort Laramie, Wyoming regarding the Native ownership of the Black Hills and all land and hunting rights in there. Powder River Country was declared a prohibited area for all non-Indians. The treaty ended the war between the Indians led by Red Cloud and the United States.

The treaty was violated by the US in 1877, 1889 and 1910 leaving a much smaller area. The Lakota won a lawsuit in 1980 which, in connection with the violation of the treaty, granted a fee of US $ 15.5 million (the then value of the country) with interest (already rising to 105 million in 1980). The Lakota have not accepted the amount to date and defend the opinion that the area belongs to them.
