Essentially France and Great Britain didn't really do much at first when Hitler's Germany started disobeying the Treaty of Versailles because they were still rebuilding from WWI. This was true until Germany invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939. On September 3rd, 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany, thus starting World War II. I hope this helps :)
