Basically, the result was taking land away from them. The treaties were understood differently by the parties, Ojibwe believed that they would be giving rights to white settlers to use the land which belonged to everyone and it was a common ground for all. The white population believed that the Ojibwe were ceding land to them as land was viewed as a commodity that could be fully owned. This resulted in Ojibwe losing a lot of its land since the contracts were often vague and easily exploited.
