So, you have -13 in an absolute value marker. You take that absolute value, 13. Since there is a negative sign or opposite sign outside of the markers, change the absolute value to -13. The negative sign outside of the markers negates the absolute value's positive attributes.
The answer to this question should be: 13
because the absolute value of 13 is already negative and the negative outside the absolute value sign would make the 13 become a positive because a negative and a negative (so two negatives) would equal a positive.
