1. Divide the shape into two triangles and one rectangle.

2. First Triangle (on top) AREA: 7 * 2 * 1/2 = 7

3. Rectangle (middle) AREA: 7 * 4 = 28

4. Second Triangle (on bottom) AREA: 7 * 2 * 1/2 = 7

5. All together: 7 + 28 + 7 = 14 + 28 = 42
