The rulers wanted to bring back respect for traditions 
Confucianism, though started with Confucius, did not only contain his teachings alone, but this is a merged teachings of philosophies and superstition believed by China, as well as teachings from other philosophers. During Han dynasty, Confucianism grew because with its philosophies, it helped in improving systems morally and ethically. It also helped King Qiu to lengthen his rule by following its principles such as knowing what is right from and always do the right thing, genuine concern towards the people and loyalty in serving the people.
