Southeast Asia is
geographically divided in two regions: Mainland Southeast Asia, or
Indochina, and Maritime Southeast Asia. The first one consists of Laos,
Cambodia, Thailand, West Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar. The second one consists
of East Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, East Timor, Brunei and
Christmas Island.
So, having in mind the
location and terrain of these areas, the climate is subtropical only in Vietnam
and the Myanmar Himalayas, which means that they have snowy, cold winters. The
other parts of Southeastern Asia have mainly a hot and humid tropical climate
with a lot of rainfall. Important to know is that there is as shift in winds or
monsoon in this part of Asia and that causes two seasons: wet and dry.
