The Fischer-Tropsch Procedure: This procedure first converts the coal to a gas by a process called gasification. This gas is called syngas. To make syngas, the coal is heated in the presence of steam and oxygen. The syngas then undergoes a variety of chemical reactions to get an end product of liquid fuel.
