appellate court
The appellate court will then review the case and decide whether the circuit court made a mistake. The appellate court will not give Ashley a new trial; they will just take another look at what happened in the original trial.

I believe the answer is: Supreme court
In united states, both civil and criminal cases is being handled by the lower court first, on local level. When eitherĀ of parties involved in the case are not satisfied with the decision, those people could ask for an appeal so the case can be handled on either state or federal level, and the court that would handle them would be the supreme court.
