is it easier to subtract when the numbers are written above and below each other? explain your answer.

Yes it would be eaiser because u can subtract each number from up and down it would a little more difficult to subtract from side by side try it and u can see for yourself

In my opinion, no. Others may think that when you subtract this way, it is much easier. My way to subtract numbers is below:-

Example: 17 - 11

Take the numbers that seem easy to add.

10 - 10 = 0
7 - 1 = 6
6+0 = 6

Now, we know that 17 - 11 = 6

We could have done it this way:-

   17
-  11
----------
  0 6

Final answer:- Either way, our answer is 6.
