An inequality is a equation that uses one of the following symbols to show its value: less than, greater than, less than or equal to, or greater than or equal to the corresponding symbols are as follows <,>,<_, and>_ ( note: the lines in<_ and >_ go directly underneath the base symbols of < and > ) an example of when you would use an inequality wold be if in the case of a x<_y symbol you had a number :x that you did not know, all you knew was that it was equal to y or any number of a lesser value. Say y was 3 x could be any number from 3 to negative infinity another more real life example might be you are charging someone for a service and their is a max price you are willing to charge say that price was $10 and you had some chriteria that decided the price or so the inequality would look something like 0<_x<_$10 ( the 0<_ x is because you probably won't pay to work)
