I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the answer, 10/7, which is listed in the answer key of some practice problems. Could anyone explain how to get that answer? I believe you should multiple everything by the LCD, 30 but I'm lost past that
[tex] \frac{a}{3} - \frac{a}{10} = \frac{1}{3} [/tex]

Okay, so you multiply every fraction to make 30, so it should look like this:
[tex] \frac{10a}{30} [/tex] - [tex] \frac{3a}{30} [/tex] = [tex] \frac{10}{30} [/tex] it should equal [tex] \frac{7a}{30} [/tex] =
