Saturated fatty acids: 2) have no double bond between carbon atoms.
Saturated fatty acids are saturated with hydrogen and because saturated fatty acids have only single bonds, each carbon atom within the chain has two hydrogen atoms (except for the omega carbon at the end that has three hydrogens).
Some examples are: palmitic acid (CH₃(CH₂)₁₄COOH) and stearic acid (CH₃(CH₂)₁₆COOH).
