It is easy to attract your audience when you achieve a level of sympathy. Many times sympathy comes whenever one has tastes in common with another person or when the writer or speaker appeals to your senses using your specific tastes. For instance, if your audience where to be kids, they probably like songs and stories, therefore your word choice should include or allude to these elements.
