This structure is known as the ureter. This structure is a muscular tube that extends to the the urinary bladder. It is about 25 centimeters long and can be 1.7 cm close to the bladder. The ureter has three layers: an adventitia, muscularis and mucosa. When urine enters the ureter it causes it to stretch and the muscularis contracts and moves the urine down to the bladder.
