Some of the first special education educators have to be Jean-Marc-Gaspard Itard (1775–1838), as well as Anne Sullivan Macy (1866–1936). Both of them were important people who played a huge role in the creation of special education. Itard was a physician who treated wild children, whereas Macy was a teacher who worked with Hellen Keller, a deaf-blind writer. Special education deals with education people with special needs.
