The Reformation Countries were the German States, the Netherlands and England. The Pope directed attempts to depose the Protestant governments and restore power to Catholics. In addition, there were many internal insurrections and conflicts between Protestants and Catholics in the Protestant countries. As an example last week the British celebrated Guy Fawkes day. He was a Catholic who tried to blow up Parliament in London in 1605.
