The answer is Theta waves

ANSWER:

The alpha wave is characteristic of stage 1 sleep

EXPLANATION:

  • Stage 1 is the initial stage of the sleep cycle. It is considered to be an evolution period between sleeplessness and sleep. During Stage 1, the brain produces theta or alpha waves which are of high amplitudes.
  • These brain waves are too slow, and during this period, sleep lasts about five to ten minutes. If you arise someone during this stage they would tell that they didn't fell asleep.
