There are several ways an employer could protect their workers from struck-by hazards.
Employers should ensure the safety of the worker when using heavy equipment, such as cranes and excavators. It is also necessary for proper communication between workers and crane operators. It is required by OSHA that there should be a signal the crane operator that the site is cleared of workers. Tools should also be maintained and secured by the employers. Employers should also provide PPE appropriate for the working environment such as safety google, face shields, hard hats and highly reflective clothing.
