Roosevelt felt the need to propose expanding the number of Supreme Court justices on the Supreme Court because the Supreme Court had been striking down New Deal Programs as unconstitutional. The date of proposing the expansion in the number of Supreme Court judges by Roosevelt was 5th February 1937.
