The meaning of imperialism is when two countries want to take over the same piece of land. In order to decide which country invades that country, they will get into war, and the winner will have the country that they were aiming for in their possession. For example, let's say the US and Germany were both wanting to own Japan. The US and Germany will get into war and which ever country wins, will take over Japan.
