Point estimate is the method of looking for an approximate value of some parameter - example: the mean (average) and it could be also the sample standard deviation of a population from random samples of the population.
To get the point estimate: 20 (people wearing hearing aids) / 304 (total random sample) = 0.0657894 or 0.066
To get the point estimate: 20 (people wearing hearing aids) / 304 (total random sample) = 0.0657894 or 0.066
A point estimate is the use of a single set of sample data to estimate a parameter for a whole population. It may not have statistical rigor, but rather represents a "best guess" given available data.
Thus, if in a random sample of 304 people, 20 happen to be wearing hearing aids, the point estimate of the prevalence of hearing aid use in the population is 20/304 = 6.6%
