Meiosis and mitosis similar

The two processes are rather similar for numerous reasons. They both share the same fundamental sequence of events which are the interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. The difference is that mitosis produces  two identical cells while meiosis doesn't and is used in sexual reproduction.
