During the Progressive Era, there were people, Progressives, who belonged to organizations that ran throughout the country with the specific goal of affecting government policy. These people held strong interest in Urban issues, urban politics, an social reform. The people in the Working Class who were reformers pushed hard to have the government pass legislation that would help improve the social welfare of their class. This same progressive nature and ideal also had great impact on those who were seeking equality for women, Native Americans, and African Americans.
