Part a - blue-light photoreceptors and phototropism complete the flowchart to identify the process by which blue-light photoreceptors and auxin control phototropism in plants. drag the labels to their appropriate locations on the flowchart.

Respuesta :

The flowchart will be as follows:

Plant shoot is exposed on one side, but not the other side. Then, phototropins in the shoot tip will absorb the blue light. Auxin, a plant hormone, will be released asymmetrically at the tip of the shoot. The auxin released from the stimulus will bind to an auxin receptor and activate the proton pump (H+ pump) activity in the cell membrane making the cell wall more acidic. In an acidic environment, a group of proteins called expansins are activated functioning to connect cellulose microfibrils to each other. Water will then enter the cell and increase cell turgor and subsequently expand the cell leading ultimately to the unequal growth of the plant shoot.

Attached below the answer of drag the labels to their appropriate locations on the flowchart.

Explanation:

Plants have two different types of photoreceptors to perceive different waves of light such as blue-light receptors and phytochromes. Blue-light receptors arethose that absorb blue light waves, whereas phytochromes sre those that absorb red light waves. Blue light signals a variety of effects in plants

Part a - blue-light photoreceptors and phototropism complete the flowchart to identify the process by which blue-light photoreceptors and auxin control phototropism in plants. drag the labels to their appropriate locations on the flowchart. The result of dragging is shown at the picture below

  • 1. Plant shoot is exposed to blue light on one side, but not the other side
  • 2. Phototropins in the shoot tip absorb blue light
  • 3. Auxin is released asymmetrically at the tip of the shoot
  • 4. Auxin binds to an auxin receptor.
  • 5. Proton pump activity in the cell membrance increases
  • 6. The cell wall becomes more acidic
  • 7. Proteins called expansins are activated
  • 8. Connections between cellulose microfibrils are loosened
  • 9. Water enters the cell. Turgor increases and expands the cell
  • 10. Plant shoot grows unequally, causing the plant shoot to bend toward the blue light
