Technology was developed quickly during World War I and while there were significant impacts and the overall death toll was increased dramatically, the impact of technology is not as significant as many claim it to be. For one, the development of technology resulted in many technologies that were not working as effective as could be possible. Tanks, for instance, were slow and often got caught in the trenches. Gases were extremely ineffective in that they blew back towards the sender sometimes and would cause negative effects to them as well. Air power, however, and communication were both important aspects and really changed the way war was fought.
Overall, while technology advanced the war, it was not as significant as claimed.
