List three ways by which fecal coliform is transferred from the land to water. In your own words, explain how these might impact the environment and human health.

Respuesta :

1. Fecal coli-form is a gram negative bacterial that is usually found in fecal materials. It can be transferred from the land to water by agricultural runoffs, failing human sewage system and plant mill effluents. Agricultural runoffs are usually made up of animal wastes, manures, fertilizers, compost, etc. Such materials typically contain fecal coli-form. Effluent from human sewage system from land can also flow into water sources.
2. Organic materials that have not been treated may contain fecal coli-form and such materials are dangerous to the aquatic environment and to the environment at large. In the aquatic environment, the material can reduce the level of oxygen in the water, leading to the death of fish and other animals that live in the water. Fecal coli form can have devastating effects on the health of a community population if their source of drinking water is contaminated by coli form.
