2.You inherit a pair of genes for each one of your traits. One of the genes in the pair comes from your mother, and the other comes from your father. Some genes are dominant, which means they will usually be evident in a person's physical traits. Other genes are recessive. Recessive genes will only be evident if the other gene in the pair is also recessive. Suppose a fetus inherits a dominant gene for brown eyes from its mother and a recessive gene for blue eyes from its father. What color eyes will the baby have? Explain.

Respuesta :

This depends on if the mother passes down a heterozygous brown eye gene or a homozygous one. If it is heterozygous then the baby will have a 50/50 chance for both colors.
I'm assuming that the mother passes a homozygous gene since they didn't specify in the question, so in that case the baby will have brown eyes. This is because the baby would inherit one dominant and one recessive gene, and the dominant gene will cover up the recessive gene. You can make a punett square to see this too.
