The name of the mission to assassinate dictator Fidel Castro was known as Operation Mongoose. It was also given the name of Cuba Project. This was a covert operation planned by CIA to dethrone communism and assassinate Fidel Castro. This covert operation was planned during the first year of presidency of John F Kennedy. The president gave the green signal for the operation on 30th November in the year 1961. The main focus of this operation was to free Cuba from communist regime. If the need arose, then certain political leaders along with Fidel Castro would get eliminated. The target was to create a revolt in Cuba by the year 1962.
