Hardened and aged tree sap is known as amber. As trees are a part of the natural environment and sap can be sweet, this naturally attracts insects, however it is also very sticky, so as the sap continues to ooze, in can fatally trap insects and other small creatures. This is what was made famous in the book and move Jurassic Park, in which dinosaur DNA was gathered from blood-sucking insects like mosquitoes which had been trapped in amber for millions of years with dinosaur DNA in the form the sucked blood. Another beautiful aspect of amber is when it is polished and made into jewelry.
